Five more innocent Nigerians have been murdered in Taraba State. No arrests. No suspects. Just more bodies in the morgue and more weeping families.
The breakdown of law and order in Taraba is absolute. The police are overwhelmed, the military is overstretched, and the citizens are defenseless. The state has failed in its most basic function: the protection of life.
The NLM asks: Where is the outrage? Where is the urgency?
We are witnessing the normalization of mass murder in Nigeria. We have become desensitized to the daily reports of killings. This must stop.
We call for: - The immediate establishment of community policing structures empowered to protect their localities. - A complete overhaul of the security architecture in Taraba State. - Justice for the victims of this massacre.
The blood of the innocent cries out for justice. The government must answer.
