In a display of breathtaking tone-deafness, the Federal Government has launched a "National Digital Farmers Registry." This, at a time when farmers across the country cannot access their farms due to the threat of banditry and kidnapping.
What use is a digital registry to a dead farmer?
This initiative is a classic example of the government's obsession with performative governance—launching flashy projects that look good on paper but ignore the grim reality on the ground.
The NLM condemns this misplaced priority.
We demand: - Secure the farms first. Deploy Agro-Rangers to protect farming communities. - Provide compensation to farmers who have lost their livelihoods to insecurity. - Stop the digital distractions and face the real crisis.
You cannot digitize agriculture when the fields are soaked in blood.
